Day 259: What Keeps Dad Busy (a poem)

when my devoted father left
this life (far too soon)     he
went to the
Elysian Fields

and there he found a nice
piece of land (near a
calm
waterskiable lake)

he is building a gigantic dock
—with swings
and picnic tables—
like the one he built
here (but better)

nothing rots in the Elysian Fields
(waterskiing daily)

and a house.
He is building a house (because mother
is not a sun lover)
of everlasting oak
and beds of rose petals

keeping himself very very
busy until the rest of us
(family)

join him
happilyeverafter
overtherainbow
in neverneverland

i’ll like it there.
